Abstract: The first half of the talk will be an overview of the ⁹⁹Ru Mossbauer effect presenting how it uncovers the most local electron information available on materials through gamma ray measurements. The second part of the talk will show how Mossbauer measurements have recently been used to uncover the two dimensional ferromagnetism which coexists with superconductivity in GdSr₂RuCu₂O₈. The final part of the talk will mention future measurements in a 9 Tesla external magnetic field.
