We review the network model, originally proposed to describe

inter-plateuax transitions in the quantum Hall effect. We discuss semiclassical

picture behind the model and its generalizations for more than one Landau

level. Applications to new symmetry classes in dirty superconductors, level

statistics and 3D systems are presented.
