1. Scientist, SPAWAR SYSTEMS CENTER SAN DIEGO (1988-current).
Developed an alternative Fast Hough Transform for
for signal processing (pattern recognition/target tracking)
Investigated acoustic signal processing techniques for Low
Frequency Active Acoustic projects. Performed code
optimization and benchmarking for DYNALAB signal processing
suite on SUN and IBM workstations.
Parallel processing using PVM on networked RS/6000 and SGI
workstations, results presented at the "Fourth Navy R&D
Information Exchange Conference".
Developed a design for a low frequency acoustic detection
system for illicit materials (NDE) and buried mines. Extended
the design for use with other radiation forms.
Developed a design for a system to detect low flying objects
through an obscuring mediums (Navy patent).
Ocean environmental acoustic monitoring for fleet training.
Code optimization (large FFTs, vector functions) on parallel platforms
for electromagnetic and acoustic PE propagation models (HP PA-RISC
EXEMPLAR and SUPERDOME, IBM POWER2 and POWER3 SPs
and M270 workstations, SGI MIPS ORIGIN 3000, COMPAQ ALPHA
GS320 systems) along with Geodesic grid sampling techniques. Preliminary
development of a general purpose, high performance compute engine for
mobile DOD applications using IBM POWER4 (submarine, ship, aircraft).
Participated in AIX Unix Y2K upgrade for the Naval Space
Command satellite tracking project (Dahlgren).
Used Class IV flextensional transducer and array model to
evaluate module and array operational parameters for various
"what if" scenarios involving failed modules or mixed arrays
(different ceramic materials) using COMPAQ ALPHA.
Assisted in preparation of SSC SD HPC 5 year proposal for
"DOD HPC Modernization Program", which was approved.
SBIR Reviewer: navigational (GPS, MEMS) and computer security
systems.
2. Co-design of a multi-modality imaging systems for locating
objects through obscuring media (1 patent issued).
