Dr. Arlette Baljon
is on Sabbatical this semester in Holland, from where she writes:
"Hi, my sabbatical is in Eindhoven with Prof. Michels of the
Dutch Polymer Institute, a foundation funded by industry and
universities to perform exploratory research in the area of polymer
materials and to resolve the paradox of scientific excellence and
lack of industrial innovation. We are constructing an algorithm to
model polystyrene thin films. Such films are important for the
electronic industry. In particular we plan to study the stability
and glass transition of these films. Running this code and evaluating
the data will be an excellent project for an interested master student.
Exchange opportunities for students to conduct research in the
Netherlands are available as well."
