News - SDSU Professor writes some really hard SF

Image by Jean-Pierre Normand / Analog SF 2007 The lead story in the current issue of Analog Science Fiction and Fact magazine is by our very own Professor Calvin W. Johnson of the SDSU Department of Physics. Professor Johnson will be teaching a course on Science and Science Fiction (Natural Science 310) in Spring 2008.

SDSU has a long history of science fiction authors, especially computer science professor emeritus Vernor Vinge and alumnus and 2006 Monty Award winner Greg Bear. Vinge's first published story appeared in Analog forty years ago, and Greg Bear's classic story of nanotechnology gone astray, "Blood Music," also first appeared in Analog. Between the two of them Vinge and Bear have won multiple Hugo and Nebula awards.

The December 2007 issue of Analog is already out and is available from Prof. Johnson himself. Or from Paras News Stand in North Park (recommended retail is $3.95).
