Professor Torikachvili's research interest is the study of superconducting and magnetic properties of novel materials. This study consists of searching for new materials of interest and characterizing their physical properties. The materials investigated include magnetic superconductors, valence fluctuation, heavy fermion, and high temperature superconducting oxide compounds. His laboratory is equipped for synthesizing single crystal, polycrystals, and thin film specimens of a variety of materials, and studying their crystallographic, transport, and magnetic properties. He is interested in supervising graduate and undergraduate students who want to develop research projects in superconductivity and magnetism.
