Welcome to the World
Year of Physics 2005 Webpage
at San Diego State University
The year 2005 has been declared the International World
Year of Physics by the United Nations. This is a worldwide celebration
of physics and its importance in our everyday lives, which aims to
raise the worldwide awareness of physics and physical science. The
year 2005 was chosen since it marks the 100th anniversary of Albert Einstein's miraculous year in
which he published three monumental papers describing ideas that have
since influenced all of modern physics. The US physics community's
efforts for 2005 are led by the American Physical Society, the
American Association of Physics Teachers, and the American Institute
of Physics. San Diego State
University will honor Einstein and his breathtaking contributions
to science with a public lecture entitled
"Albert Einstein's Life and
Science." The lecture will be presente by Prof. Fridolin Weber
of the Department of
Physics at San Diego State University on Wednesday, 4 May 2005 at 7:30 pm (Hepner
Hall, HH 130, San
Diego State University). The lecture is intended to make
Einstein's fascinating science accessible to a general audience.
Directions to San Diego State University can be found here. Heppner Hall is in close proximity
to the Physics/Astronomy building and the Faculty Staff Club.
