Background:
I am an Australian Citizen who is a Computational Atomic Physicist at SDSU.
Scientific Chronology:
- 2005-onwards : Assistant Professor in the Physics Department at San Diego State University in San Diego, USA.
- 2004-2005 : Short-term Research Fellow in the Mitroy Group at Charles Darwin University in Darwin, Australia.
- 2002-2004 : Research Associate in the Esry Group at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas USA (the little apple).
- 1998-2002 : PhD in the Mitroy Group at the (then) Northern Territory University in Darwin, Australia.
- 1997 : Honours research in the Optics group at the University of Melbourne, Australia.
- 1995 : Summer research scholarship in AMPL at the Australian National University.

- 2007 - SDSU University Grants Program - "Positron interactions with two-electron atoms"
Bromley Student's Honours:
- 2008 - Martin Kandes awarded a President's Award at the SDSU Student Research Symposium.
- 2007 - Martin Kandes awarded an ARCS scholarship (for his PhD studies in the Computational Science Program).
Bromley Awards:
- 2008 - Northrop Grumman Excellence in Teaching Award for the College of Sciences.
- 2005 - Sheldon Datz Prize to attend the XXIV International Conference on Photonic, Electronic, and Atomic Collisions.
- 2003 - Australian Institute of Physics Bragg Gold Medal for Excellence in Physics (citation).
- 2001 - Young Australian of the Year for Northern Territory (Science & Technology Category).
- 1999 - Best Research Student in Physics at NTU (disclaimer: there was only two of us at the time)
- 1998 - Queen’s Trust for Young Australians Project Grant towards PhD research.
- 1998 - Australian Postgraduate Award ( APA) Scholarship
- 1997 - First Class Honours in Physics at the University of Melbourne
- 1996 - Australian Institute of Physics (SA Branch) W.L. & W.H. Bragg Medal for Achievement in Northern Territory University Physics Examinations
